Tip Top Weekly |
| Description: |
Touted as "an ideal publication for American Youth," this magazine features the ongoing adventures of Frank Merriwell, first as a student at a mythical New England academy, and later at Yale, where Merriwell excels in both academics and sports. The series, which ran from 1896 until 1916, numbers over eight hundred issues: it chronicles Merriwell's collegiate life on and off the athletic field--his courtships with co-eds, his academic achievements, and the rivalries with the Harvard and Princeton sporting teams. Later stories follow his post-graduate adventures around the world and introduce his younger brother Dick, also a Yale undergraduate, as well as his young son, Frank Jr. Miscellaneous material at the end of each issue includes readers' letters and advertisements. Illustration: full-page color cover. 32 pages. Continues as New Tip Top Weekly.
